Highly technical craziness, all this training mumbo jumbo; I've thought about it, but it seems like it would just bog me down in details. I haven't gone to high altitude yet and I know I feel it lower than I'd like so if its useful as a training motivator to overcome the HAC/PE then good on ya. I stumbled on your sight searching for spantiks. I'm glad I'm not the only doof that has suffered through a double boot hike without insoles... Cheers!

Enjoy your trip,

Olin

PS save enough room in your pack to haul down some trash!

I once had a "peanut honey" honey stinger bar, and I still remember it as the best energy bar I have ever tasted... you should check out that flavor.

Also, I know it's less energy, but I think the honey peanut Balance bars taste great.

Also, have you checked out the 1st endurance products? They are used by lots of pro ironmen. They have chews in the range too (I think they are called EFS chews). Their energy drink powder is my favorite. it's called EFS and the lemon flavor is GREAT. much better than R4 or any of the others. I think you can get free samples on their website.

I was just searching around about this when I stumbled on your post. I'm simply stopping by to say that I very much enjoyed reading this post, it is very clear and well written. Are you considering writing more about this? It seems like there's more fodder here for later posts.

I thought about it for about 2 seconds... I would like to, but it would require buying a street bike, etc... with the investment I am making in gear for the expedition, there is no way I could get a new bike too... and it might look weird for me to do a try on my canondale F5 mountain bike! :-)

Nice workout! I used to do brick sessions when I was doing triathlons. Brutal workouts. Maybe you should consider a short triathlon? You're already doing all the right training :)

ha!
The espresso is always after because my workout is at 5:30 AM... just water before workout to keep from any stomach issues, and I get starbucks on the way out.

8 tacos... dang! :-)
